Cornish Students Win Washington State Chamber Music Competition

Posted Dec 01, 2008

Highest honors were awarded to Music Department seniors Maxwell Adkisson (piano), Sean Glenn (cello), and Samantha Bosch (flute), upon winning the Washington State 2008 Music Teacher National Association Young Artist Chamber Music Competition held at Highline College in Des Moines, Washington November 9, 2008.

The Cornish Trio, as they have branded themselves, took the honor after their performance of a program consisting of the Trio for Flute, Cello and Piano by Bohuslov Martinu and the Trio in D minor, Op. 49 by Felix Mendelssohn.

“We are excited and very proud of the accomplishments that Max, Sean, and Samantha have achieved. The three of them enjoy playing together and it shows in their playing. We’re thrilled that the judges for this year’s competition felt likewise,” said Cornish Music Department Chair Kent Devereaux.

The Cornish Trio will continue on to compete at the Northwest Division Level of the MTNA Competition to be held January 16-18 at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington.
