Cornish Music Department faculty composers have a reputation for being in the vanguard of the Seattle music world, both as teachers of today’s musicians as well as composers in their own right. On April 21 at 8pm in PONCHO Concert Hall, works by Cornish faculty composers will be heard in a benefit concert to raise funds for the Music Department Scholarship Fund.
Representing a range of styles and idioms from chamber music to jazz composition to electronic music, this concert will illustrate the collective vision of the musical innovators who have been educating young musicians in Seattle for many years. Composers whose music will be heard at this concert are John Burrow, Janice Giteck, Bern Herbolsheimer, James Knapp, Roger Nelson, Jarrad Powell, Jovino Santos Neto and Linda Waterfall. Musicians and composers are generously donating their time and creative talent for this benefit concert.
