On October 21, over 400 friends of Cornish took part in Cornish Celebrates an Evening of the Arts 2008. The annual fundraising event, which provides much needed scholarship support for Cornish students, has become a highly anticipated social spectacular, featuring the performances and installations of our students, faculty and alumni. This year’s event raised $442,710 for scholarships.
Cornish Celebrates an Evening of the Arts 2008 was our most successful scholarship fundraiser to date! Musical Theater students performed Hernando’s Hideaway to kick off the evening, while faculty member Jovino Santos Neto and the Cornish Latin Jazz Ensemble had the audience swaying to the music. Tilla Kuenzli’s (ART ’08) Oddly Elegant engaged and enticed curious guests, and a brilliant solo performance of Donald McKayle’s Angelitos Negros from his work Songs of the Disinherited performed by Dance student Sarah Lustbader, brought the audience to a prolonged standing ovation!
Don’t miss next year’s Cornish Celebrates an Evening of the Arts 2009 which will take place on November 1, and promises to be an equally dynamic evening of the arts.
