Annual Art and Design BFA Exhibition Open
: Design by Drew Hamlet.
With open doors through May 24, this year’s Art and Design BFA Exhibition adds an exclamation point to EXPO 14.
The 2014 Art and Design BFA Exhibition is EXPO 14’s capstone event; the exhibition features the work of Cornish’s graduating seniors, showcasing their contributions as professional artists and designers. There will be an opening reception at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, and the exhibition will remain open through May 24. Exhibition-goers will see the work of more than 80 graduating seniors and get a first look at some of the future movers and shakers of the art scene both here in Seattle and, increasingly, around the country. The exhibition will also present the opportunity to buy early works by artists who will soon be making a name for themselves.
This year, EXPO 14 has been a presentation and celebration of student achievement across art, design, music, theater, dance, and performance production at Cornish. “The expanded schedule of events for EXPO 14 demonstrates the depth and range of our students’ creative inquiry and expression” writes Cable Griffith, gallery and exhibitions curator, “Cornish is proud of their determination, hard work, and appetite for experimentation, as they turn their ambitions from school towards society.”
The 2014 Art and Design BFA Exhibition is actually two exhibitions running in tandem at two locations on the Cornish main campus in the Denny Triangle area of downtown Seattle. The Art BFA Exhibition takes place in the Cornish Centennial Labs at 2000 Terry Avenue, while the Design BFA Exhibition is only a very short walk away in the Beebe Building at 2014 9th Avenue. Gallery hours for both the Centennial Labs and the Beebe Building are 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, for the run of the exhibition.
