April 10, 2011 – Sergei P. Tschernisch Day!

Cornish President Sergei P. Tschernisch was recognized for his contributions to Cornish College of the Arts, arts education and the Seattle community on Monday, April 4 by King County and the City of Seattle. He accepted proclamations from the King County Council and Seattle City Council and Mayor Mike McGinn, declaring April 10, 2011 as “Sergei P. Tschernisch Day.” King County Executive Dow Constantine also issued a proclamation is support of “Sergei P. Tschernisch Day” and Governor Christine Gregoire sent a letter of recognition. The Cornish community will celebrate Sergei’s coming retirement with a gala event on April 10 at ACT Theatre, a fundraiser to establish the Sergei P. Tschernisch Endowed Scholarship.
