Trustee and Alumna Karrie Baas Receives 2007 Mayor's Small Business Award
Each year the Mayor's Office honors ten small businesses for their contributions to the Seattle community. Community nominations are made, and awardees are selected based on the history, management practices, entrepreneurial spirit, customer service, community involvement, and overall community impression of the business. Congratulations to trustee and alumna Karrie Baas who was honored with a 2007 Mayor's Small Business Award for her ongoing work with Baas Art Gallery and Framing.
Karrie Baas earned her BFA Cum Laude from Cornish College in 1995, focusing on Painting, Printmaking and Photography. Karrie opened the Baas Art Gallery & Framing in Seattle in 1993, which she continues to operate to date. Karrie's professional affiliations include the Greater Seattle Business Association, where she was nominated for Business Woman of the year in 2005; the Madison Valley Merchant Association; and the Professional Picture Framers Association.
Karrie served on the Cornish College Alumni Association from 1996 to 2003 and was the President of the Association from 1999-2002. She chaired the Give Your Heart to Cornish Art, a scholarship fundraiser, for two years when the Alumni Association took it over from the Players Club. Karrie started the Madison Valley Merchant Association Valentine's Day Food Drive, and served as their association president from 2004-2005.
