Artworks by Cornish Faculty and Alumni Chosen for SPU Collection
The Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs recently purchased 48 artworks for the Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) portable works collection. The call for art drew a record number of submissions from 229 Northwest artists and was made possible with Seattle Public Utilities 1% for Art Funds. The collection is titled, People + Place and includes paintings, photographs, prints, collages and assemblages by 35 artists including works by Cornish art professor Barbara Noah, past faculty Gretchen Bennett and Mark Takamichi Miller and Cornish alumni Rebecca Ford (Wayt), Bryan Smith and Heather Timken. People + Place will be on view at the Seattle Municipal Tower Gallery, Level 3 Concourse, 700 Fifth Ave. through April 30. Gallery hours are Monday - Friday, 8am to 6pm.


In addition to Barbara Noah, Gretchen Bennett, Mark Takamichi Miller, Rebecca Ford (Wayt), Bryan Smith and Heather Timken, other artists chosen for the new SPU collection include John Armstrong, Michael Brophy, Nicholas Brown, Sara Callahan, Cat Clifford, Robert Connell, Geoffrey Crofoot, Tim Cross, Chris Engman, Anna Fidler, Bill Fleming, Kathleen Frugé-Brown, Brandon Gabriel, Gary Groves, Hadley + Maxwell, Victoria Haven, Nolan Lee Hendrickson, Mary Henry, Tom Hoffman, Doug Keyes, Caleb Larsen, Spike Mafford, Noah Overby, Morgan Sims, Blair Wilson, Christy Wyckoff, Robert Yoder, and Claude Zervas.
