Cornish Dance Department Invited to Join CODA
The Cornish Dance Department has been invited to join the Council of Dance Administrators (CODA), a prestigious and selective national group of 25 college dance departments that meet annually to discuss issues related to dance in higher education. It was CODA that developed and published Standards for Dance Major Programs in 1979 and these standards were used by the National Association of Schools of Dance in developing accreditation standards in dance.
Membership in CODA is by invitation only and is limited to only 25 institutions.
A historic organization that was founded in 1967, CODA has traditionally sought members from dance departments in large universities. The invitation that has been extended to Cornish reflects the national respect for our innovative and strong program as well as the group’s desire to bring different perspectives (such as small private colleges) to their discussions. This invitation also is a national recognition that Cornish is viewed as one of the top 25 dance departments in higher education.
