Art Patch: Healing the Arts Community

In 2003, Prevention & Wellness Services at Cornish College of the Arts collaborated with the Campus Health Action on Tobacco Study (CHAT Study), a project of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The CHAT Study found a disturbing trend at Cornish: of all surveyed colleges in the Northwest, Cornish held the highest smoking rate.

Campus Consolidation Grant Received

We are pleased to report that the Joshua Green Foundation recently awarded a $200,000 grant to the Campaign for Cornish. Their gift will support the consolidation and expansion of the Cornish campus in the South Lake Union/Denny Triangle neighborhood of Seattle. Future plans to expand the campus include relocating the Music and Dance Departments to the new campus, expanding Cornish’s gallery space in the Main Campus Center, relocating and expanding the Sculpture Studio and Scene Shop, and adding new studios and performance spaces.

The Joshua Green Foundation is a Seattle based organization. They contribute to major capital campaigns of non-profit organizations headquartered and operating in the Seattle/ King County area. For more information, please visit their website, www.joshuagreencorp.com.
