For the past forty years, Jim Knapp and his eponymous Jim Knapp Orchestra (JKO) have set a standard for adventurous, imaginative music-making rivaled by few other Seattle musicians. Knapp’s compositions for orchestra or small ensemble, dance groups or the JKO have continually charted new territory. Perhaps Jim Knapp’s greatest legacy over the past forty years has been his inspired mentorship to successive generations of aspiring young musicians at Cornish College of the Arts.

Her compositions integrate new ideas with jazz, gospel, and African percussion to create a fascinating synthesis of “postmodern jazz.”
