Seattle Modern Orchestra continues its thematic concert tradition with their latest concert entitled layers of time. Like the strata of the earth, formed over time periods, composers try to build co-existent layers of music, each with different temporal characteristics. This concert includes three superb examples with Piece No. 2 for small orchestra (1986) by Conlon Nancarrow, Eight Lines (1983) by Steve Reich, and Talea (1986) by Gérard Grisey.
