Ronald Simon

Adjunct Instructor, Bass

Although born in San Francisco, Ron Simon has had a life–long association with Seattle. Simon first studied violin as a child in the prep program at Cornish in the 1950s and then later studied bass with James Harnett, principal bassist for the Seattle Symphony. Simon’s father, Mori, was a professional violinist, bassist, and member of the Seattle Symphony for many years. Simon attended the University of Washington before joining the Seattle Symphony Orchestra as a young man in 1961. He became the orchestra’s personnel manager in addition to the principal bassist in 1985.
