Mark Oi

Adjunct Instructor, Jazz Guitar

Guitarist Mark Oi has performed and toured, both nationally and internationally, in a variety of genres and formats for twenty years. Most recognized for his decade–long association touring, recording, and collaborating with saxophone legend John Tchicai, Oi has also worked with many notable musicians as both sideman and band leader. He has performed in venues ranging from New York’s Knitting Factory to Germany’s Bauhaus, Kuumbwa Jazz Center (Santa Cruz) to Jazz Haus (Copenhagen) and Yoshi’s (Oakland). His festival appearances include performances at the Monterey Jazz Festival, the San Francisco Jazz Festival, the Sixteenth Annual Festival of Saint Marie (Sol, Cape Verde), Carnivale (Vancouver), and the Greifswald Jazz Festival (Germany). Oi has also been a special guest with the Copenhagen Art Ensemble and has performed on both Danish and German national radio.
