Jeff Hay learned to play the trombone through the Seattle Public Schools music programs and the instruction of former Seattle Symphony principal trombonist Ken Cloud. He continued his education and performance at Western Washington University, North Texas State University, and the University of Washington. Hay’s show-band experience has included tours and concerts with Perry Como, Harry Connick, Jr., Sammy Davis, Jr., The 4-Tops, Manhattan Transfer, Bette Midler, and David Sanborn. He has also played in the pit orchestras of the Paramount and Fifth Avenue theaters for many years. Hay has been active in a number of the Northwest’s premier jazz ensembles and big bands and has recorded with Art No Art, The Jim Knapp Orchestra, the Don Lanphere Sextet, Cynthia Mullis, and Murl Allen Sanders.
