Gibson has released five recordings to date, all critically acclaimed and featuring the steel pan in various musical combinations, with a jazz emphasis. An international, award winning, commissioned composer, he has also created classical works for the steel pan ensemble in combination with both symphony orchestra and choral ensemble. His latest major work was a large cantata for choir and steel pan ensemble, which has been performed numerous times throughout the United States. In addition to his work as an advocate for the steel pan, Gibson has extensive experience in the area of musical theater, having worked for several years as drummer/percussionist at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theater, and as orchestrator and conductor of musicals throughout the Midwest. His career also included work as a percussionist, copyist, and orchestrator in the feature film and television music industry.
