Francisco Orozco

Originally hailing from California, Francisco Orozco holds a doctorate in ethnomusicology from the University of Washington. Before coming to Cornish, Cisco taught classes in Music and American Ethnic Studies, was associate curator for the ground-breaking exhibit, American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music, and conducted research on Chicano soul music of San Antonio and on low rider culture in Japan. Currently he is creating an online archive on Chicano rhythm and blues, and participates in community arts projects which include the fandango movement of the northwest, the Afro-Peruvian “artivist” group, De Cajón, and the Afro-Brazilian martial art of capoeira.
