Assistant/Associate Professor of Illustration

Department: Design

Reports to: Department Chair

Supervises: n/a

Pay Grade: Assistant or Associate Professor ranking commensurate with education and experience. Full-time

Teach a full-time course load at all levels of an Illustration BFA program, with the ability to teach in secondary areas such as Foundations, Graphic Design or Motion Design.

1. Teach all levels of Illustration with possible teaching assignments in secondary areas such as Foundations, Graphic Design or Motion

2. Participate in core faculty institutional service, including:

  • Participating in departmental and college governance
  • Participating in formal advising and mentorship of design students
  • Conducting formal portfolio reviews of prospective students
  • Mentoring adjunct instructors
  • Participating in curriculum development

3. Maintain ongoing professional practice

4. Other duties as assigned

• MA or MFA in Illustration
• 3 years post-secondary teaching experience
• Demonstrated excellence in both teaching and creative work
• Functional fluency in a wide range of media, including digital
• A commitment to multicultural perspectives and ability to relate well within a diverse community
• Ability to mentor students and contribute to the artistic and personal development of Illustration students
• Ability to participate in and contribute to departmental and college governance

Submit by mail both a hard copy print and a digital copy (on your CD) of a single, multi-page PDF document, including the following materials: official Cornish Employment Application; letter of application; curriculum vitae; teaching philosophy; sample syllabi; and names, phone numbers, and email addresses for three references.

Also submit by mail: minimum 15 images of professional work with descriptions, minimum 15 images of student work (with descriptions) on a CD or DVD. Only complete submissions will be considered.
