Star Rush earned an M.A. in Literary Studies at Western Washington University in 1997. Most recently, she served as Dean of Arts & Humanities at Bellevue College, and prior to that, Director of the Center for Liberal Arts. Previously, she was a member of the Core Faculty at Cornish College of the Arts and Assistant Director of Composition and Lecturer at Western Washington. She teaches composition & rhetoric, literature, and creative writing. Her writing has been published in the Hawaii Review and Fireweed, among other literary journals. Star has addressed the Association of American Colleges and Universities, as well as the Washington State Legislature Subcommittee on Global Commerce, on the subject of international education. Her interests include pedagogy, social media, visual literacy, poetry, and photography. Star is active in the visual arts, where she is a documentary and street photographer, and an advocate for mobile photography. Her images have appeared on-line, in exhibitions and print in the United States and Europe. She currently contributes as Showcase & Interview Editor to iphoneography.com, a hub for the emerging art form. When time permits, she enjoys writing poetry and collaborating on mix-media and interdisciplinary arts collaborations.
