Rebecca Hughes
Adjunct Instructor
Rebecca Hughes received her Ph.D. from University of Washington in 2010. Prior to that, she earned an M.A. in History from Central Connecticut State University and a B.A. in Chemistry from Trinity University in San Antonio. Rebecca specializes in Modern European and African History, and particularly British colonialism. She is currently revising her dissertation on British missionary propaganda into journal articles. She has taught World History and various courses on colonialism, focusing on ideas of race, gender and religion. Using a wide range of source material including paintings, posters, photographs, films, and novels, Rebecca hopes to challenge students to think deeply about the ways those in the past have understood the world and how we can draw on and critique the past in order to live richer lives today.
