Lisa Raskind
Adjunct Instructor
Lisa Raskind received an M.A. in the History of India, and a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from UCLA. Her writings have focused on the relation between religion and the arts. She was a professor at Los Angeles Valley College for 25 years, teaching numerous courses in religion, philosophy, and cultural history. Leaving her birthplace of Los Angeles in 2007, she moved to the Pacific Northwest, an experience she describes as “coming home”. Her courses encourage students to become aware of the “worlds” that they inhabit—personally, artistically and as players in a larger historical moment. Given her additional background in music and dance, she is excited to join the faculty at Cornish. Lisa is currently exploring the idea of gardens as sacred spaces.
