Cyan James
Adjunct Instructor
Cyan James holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of Michigan, and is currently earning a PhD in public health genetics from the University of Washington, where she studies science communication and biobanking. She has a background in journalism, photography, health education, and medical history. She has been awarded three Hopwoods, among other honors, and her poems, essays, and short stories have been published in literary journals including Barcelona Review, the Beloit Journal of Poetry, and Harvard Review. Her recent work is published in The Seattle Globalist and in Humanosphere. Cyan has taught creative writing, composition, and argumentative writing at the University of Michigan, medical advocacy at the University of Washington, and genes and the public at Cornish College of the Arts. Cyan is now teaching a course at Cornish genetics and policy. In her spare time she hikes and rock-climbs.
