Byron Au Yong

Byron Au Yong holds an MFA from the Tisch School of the Arts in musical theatre writing, an MA from UCLA in dance studies and a BA/BM in music composition from the University of Washington. Along with teaching in the Dance and Music Departments at Cornish, he has taught at UCLA, the North American Taiko Conference and New York City Center’s Encores! Program. Au Yong has given presentations at the Staging Sustainability Conference at York University in Toronto, the Dance Under Construction Conference at UC Davis and as artist-in-residence at the A/P/A Institute at NYU. Honors include a Creative Capital Award, Ford Foundation Fellowship and MAP Fund Award. Additionally, Au Yong has been composer-in-residence at the Sundance Institute Theatre Lab, Yale Institute for Music Theatre and Portland Taiko.
