Printmakers' Showcase

Printmakers' Showcase offers a collection of local artists with a common bond: love of the Print Arts. Among the artists showcased are Cornish affiliates Dawn Cerny (Art Department Staff), Kristen Ramirez (Art Department Faculty), Dennis Raines (Art Department Faculty), and Marcie Myrick (Art '06) and current students Michael Rioux and Morgen Bell.

Dawn Clement CD Release Party — "Break" (Faculty, Music Department)

Tula's, 2214 2nd Avenue

CD release celebration and performance announcing Break, Dawn Clement's second recording as a leader. Combining with the New York rhythm section of drummer Matt Wilson and bassist Dean Johnson, the trio explores personal interpretations of time-tested standards in addition to originals by Clement, Julian Priester and Denney Goodhew.

Jovino Santos Neto CD Release Party — "Alma do Nordeste"

Jovino Santos Neto Quinteto CD release concert featuring Jovino Santos Neto (piano), Mark Taylor (saxophones), Chuck Deardorf (bass), Byron Vannoy (drums), and Jeff Busch (percussion). Alma do Nordeste (Soul of the Northeast) features all original material inspired by a 2007 research trip through the Northeastern region of Brazil. Having established a solid reputation as one of the most important creators in contemporary Brazilian jazz, Jovino once again brings his characteristic blend of energy and great ensemble playing to the new disc.

With the release of her new CD Long Ago and Far Away: Kelly Harland Sings Jerome Kern, Origin recording artist Kelly Harland teams up with renowned pianist Bill Mays and bassist Chuck Deardorf to celebrate one of the great composers of the American Songbook. From "All the Things You Are" to "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," Kelly and her stellar band bring a gorgeous new sound to the great vintage melodies of Kern.
