Super Strings is a week of string fun starting with classical chamber music mornings, and rock, fiddle, eurythmics and improvisation afternoons with bass guitar lessons for the whole camp.
Classical music coaches include Cornish faculty and Pacific Northwest Ballet Concertmaster Michael Jinsoo Lim, Mara Gearman, violist from the Seattle Symphony, Annie Center, violist and renowned chamber musician, Paige Stockley, founder of the St. Helens String Quartet, and Steve Schermer, bass player for the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra. Afternoon coachings will be led by Mitchell Drury, violinist, arranger and member of the Steam Punk band, Abney Park, Paris Hurley, rock violinist for the band Kultur Shock, Brandon Vance, national Scottish Fiddle Champion, and Kathy Moore, renowned Seattle rock guitarist. Assisting will be junior coach Jessica Korotkin, a cello student at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. No experience is necessary for the rock, fiddle and improv classes of the camp and mornings will be filled with the classics from Dvorak to Bach to Mozart. All of the rock string players are classically trained, and can show campers how to play a variety of different styles.
