The Summer Piano Institute affords high school and college students ages 14-19 an opportunity to experience an intensive and inspiring week of private instruction, masterclasses, workshops, and performances designed to challenge and excite the already talented young artist. Young pianists will benefit especially from this European style piano institute covering piano repertoire from Bach to Messiaen and featuring masterclasses and workshops on: preparing for piano competitions; choosing the right repertoire for your goals; new approaches to the music of J.S. Bach; beyond just the notes: finding your true expressive potential; mastering the art of playing concertos. Additionally, all students will have ample opportunity to interact with, and receive private instruction from Cornish Professor of Piano Peter Mack, D.M.A. The week concludes with a special student recital on Saturday. Friends and family are encouraged to attend.
Pianists, ages 14-19, already proficient at an intermediate to advanced level.
All participants should come to the classes with at least one piece memorized and ready to perform.
Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm with a break for lunch, and a concluding recital performance scheduled for Saturday, July 30 at 11:00am in PONCHO Concert Hall on the Cornish campus.
Open for enrollment to intermediate to advanced piano students ages 14-19 without an audition.
