New work by Justin R. Lytle

This Used to be About Love by Michael Rioux (Art ‘09)

September 9-30
In this preliminary exploration of the “love” concept, Michael Rioux (Art ‘09) juxtaposes performance and visual art by tracing his own shadow on a wall for a set period- an infinite, futile task that represents the artist’s innate drive to create. This show includes video documentation, the drawings created in this performance, and drawings Rioux created as a child.
“This is Happening”

Lights, camera, action figures.
The virtual realm is personable.
Neon is the negative space.
And everyone is invited to the negative space.

In a contemporary, tongue-in-cheek homage to art povera, Jesse Montini-Vose and Reilly Donovan present This Is Happening. The two-person show is a ramshackle concoction of work created in the confines of a one bedroom apartment; through the manipulation of space and technology Montini-Vose and Donovan have birthed a microcosm. Using little more than second-hand electronics and “scraps”, the artists provide us with access to a world teeming with depth and mystery. Montini-Vose and Donovan continue to counter corporate mentality through the use of unconventional materials and style.
