Student Interest Groups’ Diverse Interests
: Cornish Quiddich Student Interest Group (SIG).
Cornish Student Leadership Council supports a wide variety of Student Interest Groups (SIGs) every year, and the 2011 – 2012 term was no exception. On the roster: Alpha Beta Nu and Sigma Alpha Pi, leadership organizations fostering volunteerism and individual growth, Black Student Union, Jewish Culture SIG and various groups for activities such as cheese tasting, discussing movies, curating, playing rock music and quiddich.
Students submit their group proposals to the Cornish Student Leadership Council (CSLC), which funds and organizes SIGs and their events. Events cover a broad range of interests and purposes. Some of this year’s highlights include live broadcasts of nationally recognized leadership speakers from Sigma Alpha Pi, bi-monthly professional gallery openings for individual art shows in the Closet Gallery, and a deeply interesting lecture on the Japanese cultural elements behind the movie “Spirited Away” by Cornish librarian Heather Sheppard, sponsored by the “We Like Movies” SIG.
