INCITE•INSIGHT presents Katinka Bock at Henry

: INCITE•INSIGHT, a partnership of Cornish and the Henry Art Gallery.

INCITE•INSIGHT, the Cornish-Henry Gallery partnership, presents German sculptor Katinka Bock the Henry.

Katinka Bock, exhibiting artist at the Henry, will speak and meet patrons at INCITE•INSIGHT, Thursday, January 30 at the Henry Galler. A Paris-based German sculptor, Bock comes to the Henry for her first major U.S. exhibition.

The exhibition at the Henry opened January 25 and will run through May 4. Using clay and found materials, Bock creates sculptural installations that explore the poetic dimension of space and mine the territories of history and archeology. The exhibition will include recent and new works by the artist. A catalog will be published in conjunction with the project. Bock was recently an artist-in-residence at Villa Medici in Rome, and was awarded the Dorothea von Stetten Kunstpreis in Germany.

Cornish College of the Arts and Henry Art Gallery have formed a new partnership to present INCITE•INSIGHT, a series of public lectures and performances that promote engagement with contemporary art practice. Invited artists, curators, writers and other critical thinkers will visit Seattle for short residencies during which they will interact with students through group conversation and studio visits. The series aims to emphasize and advance the long-standing and recognized commitment that Cornish and the Henry have to supporting significant dialogues around the social and cultural impact of art and the ideas of our time.

INCITE•INSIGHT is made possible with generous support from The Maybelle Clark MacDonald Fund, The Catherine Eaton Skinner and David Skinner Visiting Artist Fund, The Thelma Lehmann Endowed Fund, Wah and May Lui, Mike and Jennifer Sinanan, and Jaimy McCarthy and Jim England.
