Harriet “Harry” Dodge is a visual artist born in San Francisco, California in 1966, who now lives and works in Los Angeles. Dodge’s solo work—which includes video, sculpture and drawing—as well as collaborative video work has been exhibited widely, including The 2008 Whitney Biennial, NY; Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, CT; The Getty Center, LA; Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius, Lithuania; Hammer Museum, LA; Kunstalle Bonn, Bonn, Germany; Brooklyn Museum of Art, NY; Hessel Museum, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY; PS 1, Long Island City. Dodge’s collaborative video work is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In the early ’90s Dodge was one of the founders of the now-legendary San Francisco community-based performance space, The Bearded Lady, which served as a gathering point for a pioneering, polysexual, queer literary and arts scene.
Cornish College of the Arts and the Henry Art Gallery have formed a new partnership to present INCITE•INSIGHT, a series of public lectures and performances that promote engagement with contemporary art practice. Invited artists, curators, writers, and other critical thinkers will visit Seattle for short residencies during which they will interact with students through group conversation and studio visits. The series aims to emphasize and advance the long-standing and recognized commitment that Cornish and the Henry have to supporting significant dialogues around the social and cultural impact of art and the ideas of our time.
INCITE•INSIGHT is made possible with generous support from The Maybelle Clark MacDonald Fund, The Catherine Eaton Skinner and David Skinner Visiting Artist Fund, The Thelma Lehmann Endowed Fund, Wah and May Lui, Mike and Jennifer Sinanan, and Jaimy McCarthy and Jim England.
