Arts & Social Change Summer Gathering & Potluck

As a community-involved artist at Cornish, it would be nigh impossible not to have heard of the Washington State Arts Commission, 4Culture, Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs and Seattle Center, but one might not know that this Summer, you can have a picnic dinner with all four of them to talk about Arts and Social Change.

Arts & Social Change is actually the name of a network between these four local powerhouses of arts activity, whose mission is to “address the role that diverse arts play in creating awareness, inspiring understanding and developing policies to address cultural equity and social change”.  They also recently expanded to include two more agencies, the Seattle Office for Civil Rights and The Association of American Cultures. Having joined forces, the Arts & Social Change Planning Partnership has begun hosting symposia on their namesake topic. Last year in October, their first symposium was a great success. This year’s is not yet on the schedule, but we’re ready when it is.
In the meantime, get your ideas flowing and make some network connections with other artists, arts administrators, social service professionals, government representatives, and social justice leaders by going to a picnic with them at Madrona Park. Come out for a Summer meal, and get motivated for arts and cultural change in Seattle!
