National Portfolio Day at Cornish Jan 12
: Cornish College of the Arts: Emily Hooper.
Seattle National Portfolio Day will be at Cornish: local high school artists and designers can offer their portfolios to art schools
from around the nation.
It would be very difficult and exceedingly expensive for a young art or design student to visit every art school in the country. National Portfolio Day exists so they don’t have to. Instead, just about every school a young artist would want to attend sends representatives to a single location so students can interview and show their work to all of them at once. On January 12, everyone is coming to Cornish. INFORMATION.
National Portfolio Day serves a variety of purposes. Most importantly, it helps further the artistic development of artists by bringing together experienced representatives from esteemed colleges all over North America to review participants’ work and offer constructive critique. A participant has the opportunity to hear many different opinions about their work. It is also a great opportunity to discuss how ideas and techniques are developed. This experience is a small taste of what attending a professional art program can be like.
National Portfolio Day is about the exchange of information; about artwork, college plans, and concerns. It is not an examination or a competition. The college representatives are pleased to discuss their degree programs; therefore we urge interested people to discuss their work with as many representatives as possible.
The complete 2012 – 2013 NPDA schedule is available at NPDA. A review at one of these events will serve as your portfolio review for admission into the Art or Design Department.
