In addition to her performance at Cornish Celebrates an Evening of the Arts, Anderson will be conducting a master class with Cornish students and faculty. This is a wonderful opportunity for the Cornish community to interact with an artist who has created a singular career based on the values that Cornish upholds since its founding – that all artistic disciplines are intrinsically tied and that a particular richness is achieved when working amongst different disciplines.
Anderson began her ascendency to artistic icon with the release of O Superman in 1980, the hit song from her album Big Science. Since then, she has recorded numerous other albums and CDs including Mister Heartbreak, United States Live, Strange Angels, Bright Red, and the soundtrack to her feature film Home of the Brave.
In addition to her music, Anderson has become a leading visual artist, author, performer and composer. She toured the United States and internationally numerous times with shows ranging from simple spoken word performances to elaborate multimedia events. She has published six books. visual work has been presented in major museums throughout the United States and Europe. As a composer, Anderson has contributed music to films by Wim Wenders and Jonathan Demme, dance pieces by Bill T. Jones, Trisha Brown, Molissa Fenley, and a score for a Robert LePage theater production.
