Shannon Barnes

Teaching Creative Movement
Shannon Barnes is the Community Education Programs Coordinator and a Teaching Artist for the Education Programs at Pacific Northwest Ballet. She has extensive experience teaching in public schools, including work as a dance specialist in primary schools in England. Through her role at PNB, she teaches in schools, oversees assessment of student learning in the Education programs, and creates lesson plans focused on connecting dance with other classroom subjects. Shannon is committed to making dance accessible to a broad range of people and her work has included creating integrated dance opportunities for people with and without disabilities. Shannon served on the Board of Directors of the Dance Educators Association of Washington from 2007-2012. She holds a B.A. in Dance and Psychology from the University of Washington and also earned a Post-Graduate Certificate in Community Dance at Laban, London.
