Instructional Support Service
- Instruction: Request library instruction for a specific class or assignment by contacting Heather Sheppard, hsheppard@cornish.edu, 726-5062.
- Class Reserves: Place materials on reserve for a class.
- Video and CD holds for class: Ensure that the video or cd you want to show in class will be available. Place it on hold ahead of time!
- ARTstor: Faculty may request "Instructional Privileges" to ARTstor. This level of access allows faculty to create course folders with image groups. Faculty manage these folders and can set up student folders for the sharing of images and comments. If you are interested in this level of access please contact Bridget Nowlin, bnowlin@cornish.edu, 726-5126, for additional information and to set up a training appointment.
Other Support Services
- Research consulations: For a one-on-one research consultation with a librarian to facilitate your research stop by the reference desk during the day or contact Heather Sheppard, hsheppard@cornish.edu, 726-5062, or Hollis Near, hnear@cornish.edu, 206-726-5040. You can also send an email to the Reference email account libraryref@cornish.edu.
- Request Library Titles: Contact the Liaison Librarian for your department or Hollis Near, hnear@cornish.edu, 206-726-5040, to assist in purchasing books to support your class. Budget limits will apply.
- Interlibrary Loan: Cornish does not have Interlibrary Loan service at this time, but we can direct you to free ILL services at the public libraries. They allow online requests also.
Searching and Locating Materials
- Search the Library's Catalog for books, journals, videos, and other materials owned by Cornish Library
- Library floorplan: Library Map
- Find articles: Online Databases. See list of databases for periodical/journal literature and more.
Borrowing Materials
- A current Cornish ID card must be presented in order to borrow materials.
- Library hours
- Circulation Policy: Loan periods, renewals, overdues, etc.
- Video/DVD/Music CD Faculty Hold Service: Ensure that the Video, DVD, or CD you want to play in class will be available.
Off Campus Resources

on Capital Hill supports local teachers and their classes with FREE video rental for classroom use:
Please be aware of the following policies:
Videos used in the classroom of any primary, secondary school or college are not charged a rental fee for the first seven days.
Videos may be rented for a maximum of seven days free of charge.
After seven days, regular rental rates and policies apply.
Videos not returned within seven days will be assessed extra day charges and are subject to collection.
New Release videos are NOT available free of charge.
