Permits

Student Semester Permits

Student parking permits can be purchased from the Cashier, 9 am – 4 pm, weekdays.

Employee Semester Permits

Employees may sign up for a parking permit at Campus Safety and Security, 7:30 am – 5 pm, weekdays. Employees pay for their semester parking permits via monthly pre-tax payroll deduction.

Day Permits

These permits are available for guests, employees or students who wish to park on an occasional basis, 8 am – 4 pm, weekdays.

This day permit is to be displayed on the driver’s side of dashboard in the vehicle. This permit is only good for the applicable assigned parking lot. You must come prepared with your license plate number when you purchase this permit.

Employee Day Permits

7:30 – 9 am, Weekdays

1. Day permits may be purchased from MCC Security. The charge for this day permit will be deducted from your next payroll check, or
2. Day permits may be purchased at Cornish Cafe.

9 am – 4 pm, Weekdays

Day permits may be purchased from the Cashier. This payment may be made as a payroll deduction, or the fee may be paid in cash, check or credit card.

Student and Guest Day Permits

7:30 – 9 am, Weekdays

1. Day permits may be purchased from MCC Security, but you must go to the Cashier (during the Cashier's open hours,
   9 am – 4 pm) the same day and pay for this temporary permit, or
2. Day permits may be purchased at Cornish Cafe.

9 am – 4 pm, Weekdays

Day permits may be purchased from the Cashier.

Free Permits

Cornish issues a free "evening (after 4 pm), weekend and holiday" permit to employees and students who do not purchase a permit. This permit does not allow parking from 8 am – 4 pm, weekdays, the entire year.

Free permits can be obtained from Campus Safety and Security. The free permit is good for each fiscal year (June 1 to May 31) and can be obtained at any time. It must be correctly displayed on the dashboard lower left driver’s side. There is a $5 replacement fee for a lost permit.

Parking Lots

Cornish parking lots are for the use of employees, students and authorized visitors to the campus at all times. As Cornish is located in a downtown area with increasing pressure on its parking lots from adjoining businesses and residential units, it is necessary that Cornish restrict the use of its parking lots to people having direct business with the College.

Lot Assignments

Student Lot Assigments

The 7th and 8th Avenue Residence Hall parking lots are assigned to students 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. A limited number of Kerry Hall permits are also available; these permits are also applicable to the Residence Hall lots.

Employee Lot Assignments

Specific lots are assigned for the use of employees from 8 am – 4 pm, weekdays (except holidays).

1. Lot A, The "Prow": 1000 Lenora St
2. Lot B, Denny/Boren: 1000 Lenora St
3. Lot C, Terry/Lenora: 1000 Lenora St
4. Lot D, Raisbeck Hall: 2015 Boren Ave
5. Lot E, Notion Building: 1000 Lenora St
6. 408/418 8th Avenue: Alley by Scene Shop/Senior Studios
7. 428 9th Avenue: Inside fenced area of the 9th Studios
8. Kerry Hall: Limited number of permits available for students for all hours

Employees may park in these lots from 4 pm – midnight, weekdays; weekends and holidays without a purchased Cornish parking permit, but a free permit is required. If you are parked during these free periods without a correctly displayed free permit, you will be ticketed.

Reserved Parking

Certain spaces are reserved for Cornish vehicles and/or specific officers of Cornish.

Scooters & Motorcycles

For the purpose of these regulations, motorcycles, motorized bicycles and scooters are considered to be motor vehicles and are subject to parking rules and regulations. Motorcycles, motorized bicycles and scooters must be parked in designated areas only. No parking permit is required.

Citation Appeal

Appeal Guidelines

• Appeals are only acceptable under verifiable mitigating circumstances.
• Appeals are not acceptable if the appellant does not have a valid permit at the time/date of ticket issuance.
• All parking facilities are clearly marked with signage that is enforced at all times.
• Filing an appeal with the Director of Campus Safety and Security does not guarantee the appeal will be granted.
• The Director of Campus Safety and Security or designee will review this appeal within 5 business days of receipt of the appeal and will notify the appellant of his/her decision. The appellant will have 5 business days to pay the ticket at the original penalty cost or the increased penalty will be assessed.
