The Neddy at Cornish is pleased to announce the next event in our ongoing series of artist talks featuring past recipients of the Neddy Artist Fellowship. Please join artist Claudia Fitch (2000 Neddy Artist Fellowship Awardee in sculpture) for a discussion about her work and practice.
Artist Claudia Fitch creates work in drawing and sculpture that playfully re-invents icons from the popular American vernacular, seeking to expose the idiosyncratic connection between the cultural and the personal.
Fitch received her B.F.A. in Painting from the University of Washington, and an M.F.A. in Painting from the Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, PA. Recent exhibitions include solo shows at the Portland Art Museum, Washington State University Museum of Art, and the Suyama Space. Fitch was a 2011 artist in residence at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and is a recipient of the Neddy Artist Fellowship (2000) and a Pollock Krasner Grant (1997). Her work is included in the collections of the Seattle Art Museum, Microsoft Corporation, Tacoma Art Museum, and The City of Seattle. Fitch is represented locally by the Greg Kucera Gallery.
