Cornish@Amazon Summer Concert Series presents Matt Sircely and Danny Barnes.
Van Vorst Plaza, 410 Terry Avenue N, Seattle
Cornish@Amazon Summer Concert Series takes place every Thursday through September 4.
Danny Barnes is widely regarded as a banjo visionary and influential songwriter in American music. Matt Sircely brings fresh approaches to music both through his mandolin work and songwriting. Friends for more than a decade on the Olympic Peninsula, Barnes and Sircely began to tour the West Coast as a duo last year. An outing to California produced Sircely and Barnes Live, recorded in the Santa Cruz Mountains and the twelfth release on Barnes' Minner Bucket Records. In October 2013, Barnes released Shri 108, supported by beautiful instrumental work alongside elements of electronica, which has been Barnes' choice of medium in recent years. He followed with the recent release of his latest recording, Junior Sampled, available on Minner Bucket. When Barnes and Sircely play together, they swap mostly original songs and showcase their love of many music forms — both roots-oriented and forward-thinking. Poetic songwriting framed with guitar, banjo and mandolin traverses the unexpected, conjuring great traditions in American music right before launching into something that's never been heard. Sircely and Barnes Live is available at www.minnerbucketrecords.com. Barnes' new recordings, Junior Sampled and Shri 108, are available for streaming and download at dannybarnes.bandcamp.com.
