Art Visiting Artist: Caroline Kapp

Caroline Kapp is a Seattle-based visual artist best known for her quietly surreal photographic compositions that combine traditional and digital processes. Her multilayered techniques often involve drawing, printmaking, digital negatives and hand-coated paper, as well as scanning and digital manipulation of film negatives. Kapp’s subject matter, characteristically inanimate objects portrayed in unlikely ways, evokes questions of space, scale, and context that parallels human interactions and relationships. Kapp moved to the Pacific Northwest to study at Cornish College of the Arts for her BFA (2000), and later studied at the University of Washington for her MFA (2007). She has exhibited photography and video work locally, nationally and internationally, and has been selected as resident fellow at several institutions including Virginia Center for Creative Arts and the Burren College of Art in County Clare, Ireland. Kapp is represented by Prographica/KDR Gallery in Seattle.
