Jamie Newton
I like to stop and look, giving each object and scene a chance to stick in my mind.
As I look at each object, I see something new, something special. I give the everyday
a new angle, make the typical atypical. This mindset has inspired me to find some
originality in the old, color in the mundane, and joy in simplicity. As a designer
I arm myself with many tools, however the most important is not CAD, but my camera.
Looking through the lens changes every object I view; the "same old" becomes fresh and vibrant.
Lines in structure become dynamic in a way that before seemed insignificant. The photographs I
take blend effortlessly into my design, giving simplicity a chance to become form and structure.
This brings a childlike wonder to my designs and lets the viewer feel something that they had not
felt for years.
