“In life, as in art, the beautiful moves in curves”
-Bulwer-Lytton
My dance teacher once said that part of ballet is making shapes in space and to move within those shapes as if someone were taking your picture. Now, on the other side of the camera, my goal is to capture these forms and movements, both in ballet and modern dance as they are performed on stage. Each of my photographs is an exploration of the captured line, form, shape and space. Inspired by the bold, elegant forms found in the Art Nouveau movement, my images seek to create a harmonious balance between the aesthetic line of the dancer’s body and the shapes they mold in space.
