My work has one common thread: home. My paintings are about the feeling
home brings in relation to how I see myself in the world. On the drive
home, the landscape changes and transforms as I approach. Hills line the
border of my hometown. Arriving just as the sun sets, the hills turn a fiery orange
as the sun disappears behind them. Seeing those hills, I feel like I am truly home.
The trees represent people at different times in their lives. Some days
you may feel alone, invisible, or lost. Then there are times when
people surround you and you are comfortable, connected, and feel safe with
the ones you love. Life happens in these moments.
For me, the one thing that stays the same is home and the hills that
surround it.
