Mythology has become the catalyst for some of the most potent and lasting images we know today, but is it actually the stories that drive these images or can mythology be created from an image or set of images? It is around this idea that I create my work.
By exploring my American and Mexican heritage, as well as the stories and images tied to the lands I have lived and visited, I can begin to build narratives personalized to my own history. The hope is to bridge the gap between viewer and artist, creating curiosity and empathy. As Storyteller and a Myth maker these explorations allow me to have new relationships with unfamiliar cultures as well as build upon ones I have known.
