Some, but not all, Art classes require textbooks. If an instructor has indicated on their syllabus that a specific text is “required”, the you are expected to obtain the textbook during the first two weeks of classes, no later. Occasionally, an instructor will also list a “recommended text” on their syllabus; this is a text that an instructor feels would be helpful, but is not required for the class. Individuals are free to purchase new or used books as long as books adhere to the specific edition guidelines. Individual instructors will distribute information on how to obtain specific textbooks.
