Tory Franklin

The Firebird cut vinyl, digital print on cut PVC, Mylar detail shot 6' x 10' x 3' site specific for Storefronts Seattle 2012

Tory Franklin creates narrative installations combining drawing and print in public settings.  She fabricated local site specific works for Storefronts Seattle, Sound Transit, The VERA Project, Spaceworks Tacoma, McCaw Hall and Gallery 4Culture.  Before returning to the northwest in 2010 she made installations for the ISE Foundation in New York, FLUXspace and The Bambi Project in Philadelphia, and Glas Moog in Köln, Germany.  She is a 2012 Artist Trust GAP grant recipient.

Tory received her BFA from Cornish College of the Arts in 2000 and MFA from Rutgers University in 2007 and has participated in internships at Singapore Tyler Print Institute, The Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia, and Dieu Donne Papermill in New York.  In addition to managing the drawing studio at Cornish Tory teaches screen print at The VERA Project and volunteers for the small press festival Short Run Seattle.
