Louis Watts

Studio Supervisor

Louis Watts’ work focuses on reduction. Drawing, arguably the most fundamental component of the artistic process, is his primary medium. He received a BFA in Intermedia from Arizona State University with a focus on installation work. While living in New York he interned at James Turrell’s Brooklyn studio and worked for an NYC based laser light sculptor. Louis’ drawings are informed by his experience working in sculpture, performance, and time-based media. He takes many of the concepts and concerns that are present in these mediums and pares them back to their most essential and immediate forms.

Louis has shown in Arkansas (his native state) and NYC. Most of his early drawings can be seen in a permanent collection at Arkansas State University which houses over 40 of his pieces. His work is also in the private collection of renowned drawing collector Townsend Wolfe.">
