The Painting Program at Cornish offers coursework designed to develop conceptual, visual, and material skills with a variety of approaches in the context of contemporary art practice. Students explore a variety of paint media, including oils and water-base media, as well as mixed media and alternative processes, materials, and formats.

Options range from imagistic and traditional approaches to abstract, conceptual, hybrid, non-traditional, and innovative alternatives. Through projects, critiques, experimentation, reading and research, students develop of a body of work and art practice reflecting their personal vision and their place in a larger artistic and cultural context.
