Erik Geschke Enjoys Busy Season
: "Harbinger" and "Ascetic's Mirror" by Erik Geschke.
This autumn has seen Erik Geschke [AR ’93] lecturing on his art, having pieces on exhibit and even donating a work to be auctioned.
Erik Geschke [AR ’93], lectured on his work November 5th at Lewis and Clark College. The lecture was part of the 2012 Visiting Artist Program of the department of art. Meanwhile, his pieces “Harbinger” (2012) and “Ascetic’s Mirror” (2012) are currently being featured in the exhibition, “Selections from Portland2012: A Biennial of Contemporary Art” at Southern Oregon University’s Schneider Museum of Art. The exhibition will run through Saturday, December 8th. That’s not all: on November 10th, Geschke donated a piece to support Disjecta Contemporary Art Center. The work is available for purchase at Disjecta’s 6th Annual Art Auction.
Erik Geschke is a mixed-media artist who has exhibited both nationally and internationally. Venues include the UCLA Hammer Museum of Art in Los Angeles, ZieherSmith and Knoedler & Company in New York, The Navy Pier in Chicago, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Connecticut, Howard House Contemporary Art, among many others. He has received awards from the Seattle Art Museum (Betty Bowen Special Recognition Award), Seattle Arts Commission (Seattle Artists Award), Jerome Foundation, College Art Association, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Sculpture Space Inc and the Vermont Studio Center among others.
