The Commencement ceremony for the Class of 2013 was held on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Washington.
187 graduates participated in the ceremonial conferral of the Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Music degrees and Artist Diploma in Music in front of more than 1400 audience members.
Honorary degrees were awarded to Hank Dutt, David Harrington, John Sherba and Jeffrey Ziegler, members of the Kronos Quartet and dancer, choreographer and artistic director of the Dance Theater Harlem, Virginia Johnson, who also delivered the commencement address. Art graduate, Miles Toland, was the 2013 student speaker. Dance graduates, Samuel Picart and Deborah Ann Corrales, performed the dance solos, Obsession and Cricket, and Music graduates, Melissa Acton and Hayley Watt performed Tango and Obsession, Sonata in A Minor for Solo Violin.
Candidates, faculty and dignitaries processed and recessed to music directed by Professor Jarrad Powell and performed by the Cornish Gamelan Ensemble.
