Online Digital Images
From ARTstor Digital Image Database, this resource is available to all Cornish students, faculty and staff.
ARTstor is a digital library of art images, associated information, and software tools designed to enhance teaching, learning and scholarship. ARTstor contains over a million images, from nearly 200 different collections, of Art, Design, Architecture and Archeology, Dance, Music and Theater from a wide range of cultures and time periods, with initial strengths in European, American and Asian cultures. New images are being added constantly.
If you connect to this database from off campus you will be prompted for your last name and Cornish ID number in order to login.
This is primarily a faculty teaching collection. Limited access for students by appointment.
The collection includes images from architecture, drawing, graphic design, illustration, painting, photography, prints, sculpture, and "new forms" (multimedia, installation art, etc.). The slide collection contains more then 42,000 mounted 35mm slides. The slides are cataloged using a Filemaker Pro database. The slide database may be searched on-site in the Image Collection office.
Faculty using the collection for the first time must contact the Visual Resources Curator for an orientation.
The Cornish Library follows the Image Collection Guidelines of the Visual Resources Association for copyright issues related to fair use and acquiring new images for the collection.
