EMPLOYEE TUITION DISCOUNT

Regular full-time staff and faculty teaching full-time may take up to two classes per semester (a maximum of six credits) free of tuition when space is available. This is also the maximum number of credits allowed per semester for full-time employees.  If you wish to take a class during work hours, please secure your supervisor’s approval in writing prior to registering for the class.

Regular part-time (20 hours per week or more), academic-year staff (those working nine months of the year) and Non-Core faculty (50% FTE) may take one class (a maximum of three credits) per semester free of tuition when space is available.

When enrolling in a class, the class hours may not conflict with the hours you are regularly scheduled to work.  Occasionally employees are able to attend a class during regular work hours when an alternative work schedule is approved by the supervisor.

Employees who wish to enroll in Cornish courses must follow the policies and registration procedures that apply to non-matriculated students at Cornish College. Employees must pay for laboratory fees (when applicable) in full. Private instruction is not included in the tuition discount benefit.

TUITION DISCOUNTS FOR EMPLOYEE’S DEPENDENT CHILDREN

Cornish offers tuition discounts for dependent children of employees (as defined by the Internal Revenue Code) after completing one year of employment.Part-time Employees:

Dependent children of part-time employees (those working fifty percent time or more) are eligible for a twenty-five percent discount when the parent has been employed by Cornish between one and three years.  Thereafter, the benefit increases to fifty percent as illustrated below.

TUITION EXCHANGE

Tuition Exchange is a reciprocal scholarship program for dependent children of faculty and staff employed at over 600 participating institutions.  Tuition Exchange, Inc., a nonprofit association, serves higher education by making careers at colleges and universities more attractive.  Tuition Exchange (TE) is a consortium of colleges and universities, with participating institutions in 46 states, the District of Columbia and the United Kingdom.  The program allows participating institutions the opportunity to send students on scholarship to other participating institutions, provided they make a commitment to host an approximately equal number of students. As a member of TE, Cornish College of the Arts has the ability to sponsor the dependent children of eligible employees for tuition scholarships at other institutions.  To be eligible, an employee must be currently employed by Cornish College of the Arts as a full-time faculty or staff member and have completed three years of full-time service as of September 1st of the current academic year, or be a retired employee with at least 15 years of full-time service. Please note that the TE program is highly competitive at many schools, and receiving the sponsorship from Cornish College of the Arts does not guarantee that the student will receive a TE scholarship from the institution to which he or she applies.
